The official website of the “Egyptian Prime Minister” announced that Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly went to the “Al Nasr Cars” company (Al Nasr Cars) on the 16th to attend the reopening ceremony of the state-owned automobile manufacturing plant.

Madbouly also witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between “Nasr Automotive”, Taiwan company “Tron-E” and the Arab company “Eure Transit”. The three parties will form a joint stock company and prepare to cooperate in producing Egypt’s first 1 24-seater small electric bus dedicated to urban tourism.

Madbouly said at a press conference on the 20th that the Egyptian government is fully promoting the development of the local electric vehicle and energy storage battery industry, aiming to become a regional automotive industry center.

Khaled Shadeed, CEO of Nasr Motors, pointed out that the goal of this cooperation agreement is to manufacture small electric buses in Egypt specifically designed for the service industry and tourism. Production is planned to start in mid-2025, and annual production is expected to be in 2026. 300 vehicles and 600 electric batteries, with the goal of increasing production capacity to 1,500 vehicles in 2027 and exporting to surrounding Arab countries.

Shadi also emphasized that the three-party cooperation can strengthen the partnership between state-owned enterprises and private enterprises and attract more foreign investment to enter the local market production.

Shadi also said that in the future, other factories will continue to be launched to develop light electric vehicles, electric golf carts and electric tuk-tuks.

“Nasr Automobiles” was founded in 1960 and was Egypt’s first automobile manufacturer. In the early days, it mainly assembled economical passenger cars with technology licensed from the Italian brand Fiat. Later, its business scope also expanded to include trucks and agricultural vehicles. Car series. The factory is located in the Wadi Hof area, about 30 kilometers south of Cairo. It covers an area of about 900,000 square meters and has a total of 9 factories. It was closed after liquidation in 2009.

“Tron Energy Technology”, a Taiwan company that started out by producing lithium battery materials, launched its first self-developed and designed electric bus in 2016. It entered overseas markets in 2019. In July this year, it signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture with the United Arab Emirates Enterprise to bring electric buses to the market. Bus technology is introduced into the UAE market.
